Graduation flambé

Watching all the excited students graduate always brings me back to my own graduation. A lot has happened since then.

Do you remember your graduation as being a profound turning point or as somewhat anticlimactic?

was totally awesome. My sister, one of my best friends, and I all got to speak. It was held at Red Rocks amphitheatre in Colorado on a gorgeous May morning. And, our class song was 10,000 Maniacs' "These Are Days" (for those of you who don't know, I am obsessed with Natalie Merchant in a somewhat unhealthy way). It was the ultimate, perfect graduation ceremony and it will be a treasured memory always.

College graduation was nice, too, but I was awfully hungover if I remember correctly. Glad those days are over.

Congrats to all recent or soon-to-be graduates!

Various graduations, posted 18 May 2005 by chester » (Fixture)

High school graduation was a milestone for sure. It was such a long road through grammar school and high school. I was so happy to be graduating. My class really seemed to put aside their differences and get along for the final events leading to graduation too. It was cool. College was a little less of a milestone I guess but it also was accompanied by a big sense of accomplishment. After college I went back to finish teacher certification which is where I met some of the folks on the diner. It was a great time but I never finished it. I still need to do student teaching. In the meantime I started a masters and just finished that last year. That felt great b/c it had been so long since I graduated undergrad and I never did finish the certification. I guess I grew to appreciate the act of "graduating" after that latest one. It's a nice way to commemorate an accomplishment.

always reminds me of graduations in general. I skipped my college graduations (because I hated the school) but in my highschool graduation I have a great picture of erik A trying to congradulate me by trying to make out with me. The funniest part was trying to explain to my heavily korean cultured parent that I am not gay.
