Covers You Wish Existed

Posted 25 Apr 2008 at 12:51 UTC by pedro Share This

We've all heard songs and thought, I wish that $BAND would do a cover of $SONG, that would be $ADJECTIVE!

So here's your place to wish for covers to exist, and also to wish that certain covers didn't exist.

I wish Pearl Jam would do a cover of The Guess Who's "Hand Me Down World". It would be awesome!

I wish that Jose Feliciano would not have covered "Light My Fire"... it so bad that it went right past funny into painful.

I wouldn't mind hearing Clutch do a version of War Pigs. And I don't really like David Bowie and Mick Jagger's Dancing in the Streets.

i think they could do just about anything and it'd be pretty cool. maybe not anything, but i think anything they chose to cover would be awesome.

i think it's a band called HIM that cover's Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game' it's a pretty good cover. there's also a couple other covers i hear at GC all day long that are actually pretty good. I don't know the titles or the bands. I will try to find out next time i hear them.

lots of good covers out there. will

Richard Cheese and Lounga Against the Machine is !00% covers, almost all of them amazing. Imagine a lounge singer covering The Beasty Boys, Metalica, Iron Maiden, Tool and the obvious Rage Against the Machine. I wish they would cover the tool song that goes "life feeds on life, feeds on life, feeds on life..."

Baggs, you and a few other people really need to check them out. Actually, e-mail me your address and I'll gladly send you a cd. It's so good you'll buy it even once you have the music. Speaking of Masters of War, have you ever heard Eddie Vetter's version? Not bad. I also associate War Pigs with Masters of War (war ballads?) and I would like to hear Clutch do that as well. I love Faith No More's version.

And it's a pipe dream, but if Tom Waits could cover some Johnny Cash, I'd gladly but the album. Specifically I'd love to hear Ring of Fire, and yes, I know that's already a cover.

Joss does George, posted 21 May 2008 at 06:31 UTC by chester » (Fixture)

I'd like to hear Joss Stone do George Michael's Freedom. Just for the other end of the spectrum from my Clutch request :)

Fortunate Son, posted 30 May 2008 at 07:14 UTC by chester » (Fixture)

So I was listening to the radio this morning and CCR's Fortunate Son came on the radio. That's a great song. Some current band should do it. I don't know, Foo Fighters?

Apparently I'm out of the loop b/c quite a number of folks have done covers of Fortunate Son: Bob Seger, Pearl Jam, U2, Sleater-Kinney, Corrosion of Conformity, The Dropkick Murphys, .38 Special, Circle Jerks, Kid Rock, Bruce Springsteen, The Screaming Jets, Wyclef, Ivan Neville, Fenix*TX, My Chemical Romance.

Jeff Buckley, posted 2 Jun 2008 at 10:53 UTC by baggins » (Fixture)

I feel like he could do a lot of Joni Mitchell tunes really well.

I'd also love to hear the two of them cover Zep's Battle of Evermore.

I love you man, but I have to say the idea of Jeff Buckley singing Joni Mitchell is at best a funny dream and at worst a nightmare! (I still love you though.)
