Stan- I too am so sorry and I've also been in that situation. I agree with Merc. In my case, I also quit and was soon terribly broke and it took me two years to catch up, but not for a minute to I regret the decision to quit.
Dogman- Take care, sorry to hear you're departing.

Sorry Blvgirl, I know nothing about Brazil, but good luck with your interview!

Neo- My aunt lives in rural Oregon, with a LOT of space (over 8 acres of outdoor bliss, it's beautiful and very much a natural enviornment), and a few years back she and her husband nurtured and (for all intents and purposes) raised an orphaned and injured duck. After the duck got older, it did NOT take well to captivity, even though it was pretty much raised by humans. I would STRONGLY suggest letting the mother rear the ducks, my aunt eventually had to let her duck fly into the wild. They thought it would come back (it did at first, for a few months here and there to visit). Eventually, it left for good. She always worried that she did the duck a disservice by raising it, but the duck would have died otherwise, so I think they did the right thing. It's cool that the mom is there with the eggs (most of the time) by your place. That will be something enjoyable for you guys to watch when the eggs hatch! If she just flies off when you guys come, don't worry. She'll still keep a close eye on them, and she always returns after she isn't spooked anymore, right?

I made an imortant and joyous post in Cinnamongirl's Jolly Ranchers entree. Thanks to everyone, from the bottom of my soul, who helped make the distribution of Hyde's scholarship fund this year possible.

Obviously, we love you and miss you Cinnamongirl.

I can't say that I'm a particularly big fan of Bjork either, but I can't deny that she's a very interesting person.
Prufrock... hmm, that sounds like an interesting band. I think I'll see if I can get tickets. If I can't get tickets, we'll arrange to meet another time. Are you guys having a Memorial Day get together this year?

HEY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE DINER!!!! How old Pedro?

Hi Everyone,
I haven't checked in for several weeks, and I've been spending the past 1/2 hour reading over a bunch of stuff I've missed! I am going to attempt to do some "personals," but posting the messages here because it pertains to the group as a whole I think.

AlfredEPrufrock- Who is Headcat? Never heard of them, but if you're going to their show at the Abbey in May, could you let me know? I'd love to come too because it would be so great to see you. We have to get together soon. Are you working this summer?

BlvdGirl,
I'm really thinking about you. Life has so many obstacles to throw in our way so often, and I admire you for being strong and willing to take risks. That's how I see you! You are not abnormal because you are not living life 'contentedly!' You're brave! I suppose you are abnormal in the sense that you have a lot more gumption than other people, and that's something to be proud of. When is the big 3-0? You know, I always had SUCH a different picture of where I wanted to be in my life at this age (I'll be 30 next year). I can relate to you on that a lot. I'm not perfectly content by any means, and I've lived through a lot more pain in the past few which has really caused me to veer from the path I had planned for myself and changed the person that I knew myself to be, and it is disappointing to not be where I had thought I would be (I really thought I would have my type 75 certification to be a principal now, and at this point, that's something I don't even want to do, ever). That sometimes really does make me feel defeated. However, in my trials and tribulations I often really do think that God is helping me on this path, and guiding me in directions that are good for me (I hope). You are SO smart and talented. Please don't let the MFA rejections get you down, you're one of the brightest people I know, and you will find something else that is meant to be that will be 1000 times more appropriate for you. I'm praying for your new transition in life! For what it's worth, my sister is the smartest person I have ever known, and she really respected you and thought highly of your brain power and independence. I think we will all find our way, it's just taking a little bit longer than we all thought!

Neoacerbitas-
Whoa, I can't believe you asked that question. I just had a 2 hour conversation about Mormon doctrine with my cousin LAST WEEK (she works for Campus Crusades for Christ and is asked those kinds of questions by college students all of the time). How strange! Could we create a "theology entree" or something like that to discuss various religious doctrines? I don't know how to create an entree, but that would be interesting. I'm very liberal and open-minded about religion and obviously don't think anything is 'wrong,' (and know that you don't either, thanks to the quotations, lol). My cousin filled me in on some very interesting details about the Mormon church's doctrine last week (our Aunt was a member) and it would be great to have a forum to discuss such topics, it would broaden our horizons some, huh?

Insectaturk-
Good luck with your application!

Baggins-
YEA! Congratulations. I'm so happy for you guys. I have been to no less than seven baby showers this year! Everyone is having babies, how very exciting. How did the Dr. appt. go on Wed?

BigJ-
Keeping with the same theme, how are the raspberries coming along for Ingrid?? I'll bet it is so fun and exciting to see her daily developments!

Merc and Raskol-
Miss you and love you both. It was so nice to see you both on Good Friday. I wish we could see each other more often.

Pedro-
How's school going? I hope everything is going okay and you're almost done with this semester!

Hope ALL of you are all doing well! I've got to check in more often!
