Amy, I know some people from Brazil, so if you have specific questions, I could probably get some answers for you.

I was out of the diner for the weekend, but I agree with pedro's thanks, phil. To see that pete had a friend willing to drive that far in the midst of our family's grief was very comforting. My Thanksgiving this year was great, but it was hard to be so far from home and grandma's on Friday.

Thanks, baggins. It's good to be back. I miss Chicago and since there's no way for me to get there, I've been lurking here in silence for a while. I was shocked to notice that my last diary post was in march. Makes the "regular" certification pretty undeserved.

Went trick-or-treating for the first time last night. Or, more correctly, walked around the block with my brother-in-law, niece, nephew, two of their friends, and the friends' dad, while the kids trick or treated. Just as we got to about the farthest distance from the house, it started to downpour. We had umbrellas but it was the kind of rain that defied umbrellas. The benefit of living here is that it was a nice warm rain, so I just enjoyed it. (for those of you who don't know, which is probably everyone except pedro and alh, i'm currently living in Hawaii.) Yay for walking in the rain.

Ok, so I got back from spring break last Tuesday. For those of you that I saw in Chicago, thanks for a fun time. The (my) world-crumbling news that I got upon my return to school came in the form of the last long-anticipated letter from vet school. I was rejected. By all three schools. I think I'm ok with it. I saw it coming a long time ago, but I wasn't ready to give in yet. Nor am I now, for that matter. So, I'll take a year off and reapply this fall. But that means I'll have to find a real but temporary job for next year. And since my major is pre-everything, but not concretely anything, I'll probably wait tables. Which I enjoy, but I didn't study my butt off for four years to do. *sigh* I'll just have to see where God's going to take me. My advisor suggested working as a lab assistant at one of the Universities I want to attend. I'll have to look into that.

Well, it's been a long time since I've been in here so I
thought I'd poke my head in and see what's up. Nothing
exciting has happened to me since returning from Hawaii.
I've been back at school for a week and a half. Things are
going well except my advisor has yet to set up my
internship. Hopefully I'll get some info on that tomorrow
before I go meet with my work study supervisors.

Yay! I made it past the first hoop of my application to UW-
Madison and have been selected to fill out a supplemental
application. I know they send it to a couple hundred
people, but it's still nice to know that I made it this far.
